Vet Day

Orion Avatar

Well, I had to get up at 7 am to drive my Fig over to the vet by 8 today. Needs to get his teeth done.

They have to do blood work to make sure the anesthesia will be okay for him, then put him to sleep for the cleaning, do the cleaning and I come pick him up. Hopefully by 4 I’ll be getting him back.

I just can’t help but feel bad though. Couldn’t be fed after midnight, and this morning he was acting all nice-nice with me, purring etc; vainly attempting to get food. After I brought the kitty-carrier inside, I swear I thought I saw a brick drop out his rear end. He instantly bolted behind a counter, still meowing for food and now panicking.

Getting him in the carrier is a chore, have to push him into it and force the door shut before he turns around. Then the meowing starts and continues for the whole time.

I just can’t help but feel bad. He’s going to be there for 8 hours, alone in a little cage for the times he is awake. I could hear him whaling and crying all the way down to the basement at the place.

People without pets really don’t know what it is like to go even a day without your pet in the home. You can easily tell the absence of them. Nothing feels right, they aren’t there following you, or in a certain place at a certain time.

I just can’t wait to get him back this afternoon, it’s so sad to have to do this.

Caturday - The Vet Visit

bren Avatar

Since it’s Caturday I get to talk about my kitty…again.

Yesterday I took Meeka to the vet to get her stitches removed from when she was ‘fixed’. I sat there, waiting, for over 30 minutes. When it was finally her turn we went into the room and I swear, it took less than a minute. Ugh.

While I was waiting, there was a woman there with her small child (I’d guess 5 or 6 years old) and a cute little puppy. That puppy was sooo adorable. Big floppy ears and big dumpy paws on a small body. I wanted to take him home he was so cute and sweet. But that kid…wow was he a little brat. I wanted to scream!

The mother clearly had NO control over her child. He was picking his nose and wiping it on the seat next to me (arg). Then he’d take the little pins off of the board that held pet pictures and he’d put them on a chair. He was rolling around on the floor, grabbing the dog, laying on the dog…just out of control. She did try, but there’s so much you can do without spanking said kid. So of course he didn’t listen. I could imagine her screaming at him once they got home.

Okay, so I’m not really going anywhere with that one. I just had to mention it to get it out because I really could have screamed.

Then there was another guy there who just couldn’t sit still. He seemed kind of young, late teens I guess. His shorts were hanging low and I could see his underwear when he stood in front of me while he was checking out things on the counter. God, he was everywhere, and talking to everyone. No, there wasn’t anything ‘wrong’ with him in ‘that’ way. He just seemed hyper. Or maybe he was on something, I dunno. But you could see it on the faces of the people he’d talk to that they really didn’t want to talk to him.

Another thing I had to mention because I could have screamed (again). lol Remember, I had to sit and wait for over 30 minutes. The time clicked by very, very slowly.

And this post went totally off my kitty post didn’t it. Oh well…a little bit of ranting here with my Caturday post. At least I added some cute pictures of her. *L*
