Zoey

bren Avatar

Zoey had some weird growth growing on her left hind leg (yeah I know, gross). I really didn’t think anything of it. She’s getting along in years (she turned 7 this August) so I thought it was just that…a growth. It happens sometimes when dogs gets older. I’ve had a few dogs in my lifetime to know this.

So she had an operation to get it removed. When I went to go pick her up that evening she couldn’t even get up, so I had to leave her there overnight. Poor thing. As soon as she heard my voice she was struggling to get up, but it wasn’t going to happen.

The next day I picked her up and she seemed happy to see me. She was somewhat out of it, but obviously glad to be going home. All I had to do now was keep her from licking her stitches (which was no easy task) and wait for the results from the biopsy.

Well, to make a long story short, she has Cancer. “Spindle Cell Sarcoma” to be exact. It stinks though because I have no idea how long she has, or when she’ll start getting sick. All I can do now is watch her for signs and make her last days happy.

Zoey, American Mastiff. 7 yrs. old. You can see the stitches on her left hind leg.

The ‘news’ came to me like a punch in the gut though. I didn’t expect that at all, and it’s left me feeling like total crap…

My Dad

bren Avatar

My Dad isn’t doing too well and it’s been bothering me. He’s been layed up for a couple of weeks now (sciatic nerve) and getting depressed over it. I guess with the Holidays so close it’s really getting to him, plus not being able to do much at all. He’s usually pretty active but now he can’t do much at all. From what my mom tells me, all he does it sleep, go to the bathroom and shower. It’s not like him at all.

So I brought my dog (Zoey) over to see him last night.

When ‘they’ say animals have a way of cheering people up they are so right. What a difference that 30 min visit made.

It’s weird. My dog knows who they are and loves them. If I just mention ‘meme and pepe’ she goes nuts. She’ll either keep checking out the window for them or go spastic when we get into the car to go see them.

I’m glad zoey could cheer him up. I would have left her over there if I could have (even though it would be too weird for me without her here). But my mom…lol. Poor mom. She loves zoey too, but zoey is sooo huge. I don’t dare stay over there too long when she is with me. It’s like having a horse in her house (so my mom says).

(btw…I’m still in that weird ‘funk’ with posting and stuff. I can’t believe I haven’t posted anything since November 20th. Oo)

I don’t feel safe anymore

bren Avatar

Friday night someone broke into my neighbor’s house and it’s really freaking me out. They live right across the street from me, just a stone’s throw away. Way too close for something like this to happen (I can’t imagine how freaked out they must be).

All I know about it is it happened around 10:30 pm, and they came home to find all their lights on. I have no idea what else happened, but I’m sure I’ll find out something soon (I really need to go over there and talk with them). My dog has been barking the past couples of nights too, but I shrugged it off thinking it was just an animal or something. Besides, I live in a nice neighborhood, in the country. Nothing bad has ever or could ever happen here, right? (WRONG!).

I don’t know how many times I’ve gone out during the day and left my doors unlocked. I guess I wont be doing that anymore. So much for feeling safe, eh?

Now I’m wondering if anyone was looking in my windows (I never close my shades). What a creepy feeling that is. I’ve joked about my psycho stalker doing that, since she follows me around online all the time and is constantly at our page here. Something like, “She watches me so_much I’m surprised she isn’t camped outside my window“. But this is way too real.

I don’t feel safe anymore and it sucks. Online and now Off line.

Caturday - The Vet Visit

bren Avatar

Since it’s Caturday I get to talk about my kitty…again.

Yesterday I took Meeka to the vet to get her stitches removed from when she was ‘fixed’. I sat there, waiting, for over 30 minutes. When it was finally her turn we went into the room and I swear, it took less than a minute. Ugh.

While I was waiting, there was a woman there with her small child (I’d guess 5 or 6 years old) and a cute little puppy. That puppy was sooo adorable. Big floppy ears and big dumpy paws on a small body. I wanted to take him home he was so cute and sweet. But that kid…wow was he a little brat. I wanted to scream!

The mother clearly had NO control over her child. He was picking his nose and wiping it on the seat next to me (arg). Then he’d take the little pins off of the board that held pet pictures and he’d put them on a chair. He was rolling around on the floor, grabbing the dog, laying on the dog…just out of control. She did try, but there’s so much you can do without spanking said kid. So of course he didn’t listen. I could imagine her screaming at him once they got home.

Okay, so I’m not really going anywhere with that one. I just had to mention it to get it out because I really could have screamed.

Then there was another guy there who just couldn’t sit still. He seemed kind of young, late teens I guess. His shorts were hanging low and I could see his underwear when he stood in front of me while he was checking out things on the counter. God, he was everywhere, and talking to everyone. No, there wasn’t anything ‘wrong’ with him in ‘that’ way. He just seemed hyper. Or maybe he was on something, I dunno. But you could see it on the faces of the people he’d talk to that they really didn’t want to talk to him.

Another thing I had to mention because I could have screamed (again). lol Remember, I had to sit and wait for over 30 minutes. The time clicked by very, very slowly.

And this post went totally off my kitty post didn’t it. Oh well…a little bit of ranting here with my Caturday post. At least I added some cute pictures of her. *L*

You just never know

bren Avatar

Read the Story Here

You hear about teens dieing in car accident all the time, but it really hits home when it’s someone your child went to school with.

When my son came home for lunch yesterday he told me about a fellow classmate that died in a car accident that morning. She was in a few of his classes and he even danced with her at a school dance a few months ago.

She was only 17.

I guess they are leaning towards text messaging as being the reason for the accident. I never understood that though. I have a hard time text messaging just sitting here. But while driving? Come on. If you have to do it pull over. It’s common sense. Not only are you putting yourself at risk but others as well. Thankfully no one else was involved in this one.

I feel bad for her family and friends. My brother died in a car accident when he was only 24 and I saw first hand what my parents went through, not to mention me and my brother and sister.

And now I get to worry about my own son. The best I can do is talk with him and hope he listens. But I remember how it was when I was that age. You really do feel like you are invincible and only the old die.
