The leaves are-a fallin’
Well it’s official, here anyway. The leaves are changing and falling. Soon to begin is an almost never-ending war against cleaning the leaves.
Doesn’t make it any easier the fact the house is literally in the middle of the woods. I can spend close to two hours leaf blowing on some occasions. Makes me wish I could just light them all ablaze. Now that would be something, a sea of fire on your driveways and lawns.
Gets to the point there is no where left to push or blow the leaves to. Get stacked up higher than snow banks sometimes around here. Three, four-feet tall walls of leaves that don’t wanna be pushed back any further.
I also learned the hard way not to use a leaf blower for so long without gloves. Blisters and numb hands anyone? Almost makes me dread doing it, but hearing the drone of the engine and the fumes making my head light, I tend to zone out while doing it.
Very peaceful really, just zone out and sweep back and forth with the blower…
That picture is bren’s, so don’t give me credit for it. lol

aww make a really good pile and jump in them with figgy. *L* I haven’t done that in ages.
Hmm…we never bother raking leaves here. Plus i love the look of the leaves. So eh *L*

I swear the fumes make me light-headed. lol
lol I’d lose fig in the leaves, plus he doesn’t venture off the deck outside under my strict rules. No bugs on fig! lol
I hate leaves on the lawn and driveway though. They get all nasty after awhile, especially after rain.

no bugs on fig. (lol) I bet he would like playing with bugs. Meeka really gets into it.

Fig is a bugless feline! He does chase bugs though in the house. lol

meeka goes spazzo if she sees a moth. It’s funny. *L* She has that crazed look in her eyes. Freaks out. Haven’t seen a moth in here in a while though (thank God ugh. Damn things *L*)

Fig can get a crazed look when hungry sometimes, does that count? lol

My husband had the same problem with blisters and numb hands when he was on a roto tilling kick. Right now I love the falling leaves but this is the first year we’ve lived on property with so many trees so I may be singing a different tune in a few weeks…

Mister penguin blew up! Poor guy.

The blisters and numbness is a pain, gloves are a must for that.
Used to love the leaves as a kid, but then again I didn’t have to clean them up. lol

My father use to love to call it “a Lawn Party”. Raking leaves. I remember the first few times he said it and how excited we got, thinking it was an actual party. *L*
September 28th, 2007 - 2:18:35 pm
lmao a lawn party. That’s a cruel trick to play on kids.
September 28th, 2007 - 2:21:14 pm
yes lmao
September 28th, 2007 - 2:22:57 pm
Did he rope you into raking the leaves after getting you all excited? lol
September 28th, 2007 - 2:34:04 pm
Of course. *L* We had to. Every year. Maybe that’s why I don’t do it now. *L*
September 28th, 2007 - 2:35:55 pm
That is so so mean. lol
I didn’t have to do anything till I was big enough to do it. lol Till then I just got to mess with piles of leaves.
